About Gibson Les Paul Guitars

This guitar model was released in the 1950s and was a collaboration of design by Gibson Guitar Corporation and the popular, jazz guitarist, Les Paul.  Since the release of the Fender Telecaster by Gibson's top competition, Ted McCarty, then the President of Gibson, decided to bring in Les Paul as a consultant.  This move resulted in the design of the Les Paul guitar.

The Les Paul guitar has undergone numerous variations from the original design. Gibson's newest design of the Les Paul guitar was released in August, 2008.
